31st Street Bus Will Begin Running September 2nd! – Si Se Puede, Si Se Quiere

LVEJO’s Public Transit Team has been working with CTA to get a new bus route down the 31st Street corridor for many years. The effort has finally paid off, Little Village have wont their first of many public transit  battles. Starting SEPTEMBER 2nd the 31st Street Bus will begin running. LVEJO’s next step shall be to make sure that the community is aware of the new bus and ride it, to show CTA how much  the Little Village Community really needs this bus.

Packed house at CTA’s second Budget Hearing

Members of the public cheered as the emphatic Dr. Lora Chamberlain addressed President Forrest Claypool, Chairman Terry Peterson, and the rest of the CTA board at Monday night’s public budget hearing. Dr. Lora raised her arms over her head to emphasize her statement, “Bus Rapid Transit is a bad idea!” Most all of the room broke out into applause. The spokeswoman urged the board to rethink the projected reconstruction of Ashland and Western. Before she was ushered aside, Dr. Lora called on the board to build strong cooperation with unions. The CTA board secretary directed the next speaker to the stand, and this cycling of speakers continued until 8:00 PM. Continue reading

FTA: Support the

31st Street Bus Route!

CTA needed to send a letter to FTA – the Federal Transit Administration – asking to protect federal funds for the 31st Street Bus Route.

FTA and Congressmen can give the CTA a 1-year extension to work on finding the matching funds for the route.

 

Tell FTA and your Congressman you want to ride the 31st Street Bus.

FTA: ¡Apoye el Autobús de la Calle 31!

 

 

CTA debía de haber enviado una carta a la FTA – la Administración Federal de Transportes – pidiendo mantener los fondos para la ruta de autobús la calle 31.

FTA y los congresistas pueden darle a la CTA una extensión de 1 año para la búsqueda de los fondos de contrapartida para la ruta.

 Díle a FTA y los congresistas que quieres subir el Autobús de la Calle 31.
