LVEJO Works with Senator Sandoval to Ensure Safe Route to School but Meets a Few Speed Bumps Along the Way.
Chicago – Today, CTA Board of Directors voted to approve a safe route for the students and residents of Chicago’s Little Village Community at its August Board Meeting. Little Village Environmental Justice Organization in collaboration with Senator Martin Sandoval, would like to acknowledge Mayor Rahm Emmanuel, and CTA President Forrest Claypool for taking a first step in dealing with Little Village’s transit dessert problem. Serving as “Phase 1” in a phased implementation of the JARC approved 31st street bus route, the 35th street bus will be extended to service Little Village west of Kedzie Avenue, along 31st street to the Cicero Metra stop.
